Watch Out For Extra DWI Patrols Over The Holidays

drinking-and-driving-1000-ffccccccWhite-3333-0.20.3-1Over the holidays, many Twin Cities residents will be gathering with friends and neighbors to celebrate the season. At events like this, it’s very, very easy to drink a little too much.

It is always important to be judicious about drinking when you know you have to drive, but it may be especially important over the holidays.

That is because the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Safety Office said this week that from Nov. 29 until Dec. 28, law enforcement agencies across the state will be on special lookout for drunk drivers.

In that time frame, certain dates have been highlighted for intense enforcement. They remaining dates are Dec. 19-21 and Dec. 26-28.

Annually, around 30,000 drivers are arrested for DWI in Minnesota. Over the past three years, about 336 people have died as a result of drunk-driving crashes in our state. It does not need to be said, but that is far too many people to lose this way.

As a Minneapolis DWI lawyer, I have spent a large part of my career helping residents in and around Minneapolis after they are arrested on suspicion of DWI. It is important to be careful and circumspect in the first place, of course, but we all make mistakes. That’s where I come in.

If you think it would be good to speak with a drunk-driving defense attorney, please feel free to contact me at a time that is convenient for you. I want the message that I am here to help you to come across loud and clear.
